Method of Preparation:
Mixing the Dough:
Take the Rathasaali Puttu Mix in a large bowl.
Gradually add water, little by little, while mixing the dough with your fingers.
The consistency should be slightly crumbly but moist enough to hold together when pressed (similar to wet sand).
Optionally, you can mix in some grated coconut for extra flavor and texture.
Layering in the Puttu Maker:
Take a traditional puttu maker (or a steaming vessel) and add a layer of grated coconut at the bottom.
Layer the prepared Rathasaali Puttu dough on top, followed by another layer of grated coconut.
Repeat until the puttu maker is filled.
Steaming the Puttu:
Place the filled puttu maker over boiling water in a steamer or pressure cooker without the whistle.
Steam for about 5–7 minutes, or until steam starts escaping from the top of the puttu maker.
Serving:
Carefully remove the steamed puttu from the mold.
